Vigneault unapologetic about calling out Wellwood after win over Flames
From The Province:
"I'm not here to be liked. I'm here to get the most out of him,and that's what I'm trying to do." Vigneault said. "As a coach you have to push the right buttons. Some guys need to be pushed a little harder, some guys need to be handled differently. Kyle needs to be pushed and that's what I'm doing."
Vigneault had an on ice face-to-face with Wellwood during which he told the forward he needs to bear down more.
"I still feel the same way as far as him needing to bear down more," Vigneault said. "I don't doubt his willingness. But he has to bear down more in practice.
"In the last 10-15 games, every game he's getting one, two, three grade-A scoring chances that, as a team, we need him to finish. If we're going to win and win consistently we need him to bury those chances."
Apparently Vigneault was yapping at Woody at practice today as well. I don't think he is justified for bagging on Woody for not scoring on that chance where Kipper made the "save of the year" for the Flames. But I do think that it just aggravated a beast that was already present. Wellwood has gone long enough without scoring. He has been given various chances on top power play units and scoring lines. It's time for him to get the monkey off his back.

It’s Viggy’s job to hammer Chubby at practice…but its out of line to do it in the press immediately after a game.
Viggy should take some hints from one of his peers…

…and you cannot argue with his success.
