The Unemployment Line
So, I was listening to the Rick Ball show this afternoon (podcast download) and there was a conversation about theKyle (Chubby) Wellwood, Taylor (Facebook) Pyatt and Steve (Hands of Stone) Bernier line, noting that all of them are struggling for a job. So, I figured, with these tough times upon us, they should yield the name of the times
The Unemployment Line.
Because, literally, if they don't perform this season, they could all be standing in that line next season (especially if the rumors about the possible 15% reduction in the salary cap are true).

I doubt Bernier is going anywhere, but Pyatt and Wellwood sure could. I like that name actually. So if we have the unemployment line and the RPM line…what does that leave the other two?

Well the Sedin line is just that…the Sedin line. It hasn’t mattered who’s played with them, the produce year after year.
And the 4th line is just a checking line…constantly changing with players, it never truly has an identity of its own.
4th line = “the blackout”

Trademark it! I like it! I don’t think any one of those 3 players is safe right now. Yankee, Bernier may get a pass, but I wish he wouldn’t. Like GZ said, “Hands of Stone”
Gills took the gamble on him. And I believe the rules state RFA signings like his can’t be traded in their first season of the contract

I texted the Team1040 last night and they actually read it on the air.
They were talking about the possibility of acquiring Kovalev, and Blake & Price were arguing that he would be more productive than Pyatt or Bernier. I’m not sure I’d agree with that, and said so.
We cannot trade Bernier, as he was signed to an offer sheet. That means for the first season he cannot be moved. Remember it was the same thing with Kesler? At 2.5 per season, Bernier is grossly overpaid (Kesler is making $1.75 ferfuxakes), but how do you re-negotiate for much less? I’d hate to see Bernier go at the end of next season and then turn into a Ryan Kesler.
I was a huge Pyatt fan but the more I watch him, the more I see he is a cementhead and a clunky skater. A big body with all the potential but just hasn’t put it together. Too bad, really.
The jury to me is always out on Pyatt. Sometimes he scores goals that are beauts, like I have to ask myself how the hell he even pulled it off. But, like Bernier, it’s just consistency. A two game goal streak then leads to a 9 goal pointless streak. Shit like that infuriates me, but as long as the first two lines keep producing, I do like them as a third line threat. Big guys and little Pudge.
