Gillisbloggers

Yeah, that's our GM talking to a bunch of bloggers. Sean and I weren't invited...something about geographic constraints or Gillis potentially smacking the spit out of our mouths.

We'll get him soon enough (or at least a one on one with a concession stand guy.)

More over at the Fanzone.

I know he’d punch you out. Me? No. I’ve been a big MG supporter. Damned shame we were not there. I’d heckle him about Demitra for sure and ask him why he picked Pavol of all people.
That being said, it’s good to see the whiner producing consistently with Sundin and Kesler.

No way!

Aside from when he was first named GM and everyone went "wait, who?", I’ve been a fan of his. The only things I haven’t liked are Sundin coming and Vigneault not going. Those two questions alone would have been fun to ask though I may have needed a table between us least he grow tired of the questioning and Bertuzzi me.

I'm sure Gillis could have handled it.

I don’t think you would have needed a table between you. Look what the man does for a living. Do you really think he’d be fazed by a few questions from a blogger? You flatter yourself. The man knows how to handle “uncomfortable” questions, and besides, he wouldn’t give a shit if you liked his answers or not. And I’m sure he wouldn’t waste his energy punching either of you out.

Oh how the truth hurts…

p.s. Sean: When are you going to have more photos that I can make up disgusting captions for? I need an outlet for my inner pig.

I see sarcasm is lost on Judy

Yeah, Judy. You didn’t hear the sarcasm buzzer did you?

by Sean Zandberg on Feb 11, 2009 6:38 PM PST up reply actions

I am sarcasm incarnate! Prostrate yourself!!

Or prostitute yourself. Just don’t be assholes. (Odd combination of images…) Carry on, boys.

Haha! He is kind of a grumpy-looking dude isn’t he?
So you support the signing of Demitra over Sundin then?

Financially speaking, yes. He’s basically a better scoring threat than Naslund and a slicker passer than Morrison. With the right linemates (like right now) he’s fine. I just hate that he, like Wellwood, are just about the easiest people to knock off the puck in the game.

Better scoring threat than Naslund?

Stats-wise, is he really a bigger scoring threat than Naslund? Their scoring % per games played is virtually identical, Demitra is one year young but at 34 years old is past his “prime”. Sure, his PPG is a little higher than Naslunds, but he’s played 300 less games. And do you know why he has played 300 less games?

Because he is an injury-prone panty-waisted little weasel who doesn’t backcheck!

As far as financially speaking: Naslund is making pretty much the same as Demitra is this season, and has actually played in every game for the Rangers. Now, I’m no Naslund defender. But I’ve got the hate-on for Demitra right now pretty badly. And when he goes down with an season-ending injury in three weeks you will probably feel the same :-)

And I am a Naslunder supporter

…at least before he put that Rag blue on.

But my point was Naslund was never coming back. Replacing Naslund with Demitra (arguably two perimeter snipers past their prime) I think is a net wash. Demitra’s upside could be better if he played it, but I recognize that’ll probably never happen. But taking a gamble on a sniper – any sniper – on a team that effectively had no one other than the Sedins I think is fine.

And Naslund has just two more points than Demitra right now and has played in 14 more games. That’s not bad at all, especially from a guy who as I said earlier is so easy to knock off his game.

Hate to say it

I’d take Naslund over Demitra any day. Naslund can even back check! If he was on the Sundin-Kesler line right now he’d be gold. Once again, I hate saying that. It makes me ill. Just not a Nazzy fan.

by Sean Zandberg on Feb 11, 2009 6:42 PM PST up reply actions

I'm not sure Nazzy would be total gold

but would he be better than Demitra? Hmmm, tough to say. YC is right: it is probably a wash.

Naslund isn’t as injury prone but his production has dimished the last few years, while Demitra’s has more-or-less stayed the same.

I knew I could get you to crack! It only took three years. Phew.

I’m just saying Naslund would fit in playing with his buddy Sundin and Kesler. They play that style that would suit Naslund. Doesn’t mean you got me to crack! haha! Never!

by Sean Zandberg on Feb 11, 2009 6:52 PM PST up reply actions

No kidding. He’s a wuss and he’s not even that small of a player. I think he’s scared of getting hurt.
I’ll take a Sundin over Demitra anyday, even at that price. Demitra is always one hit away from missing a month due any part of his body being injured. Totally unreliable.
