Rick Rypien Reads SBN!
In case you needed a reason to love him more, it's very cool to hear our very own Rick Rypien has been actively checking out the SBN network. Sadly no word if it's our lovely little neck of the woods (WHERE HE IS LOVED AND ADMIRED) but definitely over at MMAmania:
"... Rypien is an avid mixed martial arts fan. In 2006, at the Canucks summer conditioning camp, he got to try his hand at some basic technique of the sport.
MMA is a full contact sport that combines several forms of martial arts that rivals boxing and wrestling. The sport is growing quickly and becoming one of the most popular sports with it becoming almost ubiquitous. And to keep up with the sport, Rypien has his go-to.
'The last website I went to was MMAmania.com. I go on it everyday and it covers MMA all over the world. I like following all that stuff because I find it very interesting.'

Just
another reason to love RRumble.
MMA is the shit, and he’s definitely got the moves for it, though not sure I want to see him try to put a triangle on somebody with skates on!
That’s an intriguing question. What NHL player would handle himself the best in the MMA? Maybe none of them. That’s about as intense a sport as it gets.

Ripper vs GSP for an PPV match…no title on the line…Sort of like Rocky vs Thunderlips
GSP has to wear skates to even it up.
Who wins?
The earliest use of the word with the spelling we recognize today is found in "L'Acadie: or Seven Years' Exploration in British America" by James Edward Alexander, published in 1849:
We also met a lusty fellow in a forest road with a keg of whisky slung round him who called to us 'Come boys and have some grog, I'm what you call a canuck"
good news for rypper:
Vancouver has approved MMA, and the UFC is likely to come to town in June.
