A Vast Sadistic Feast: Canucks-Kings Game Thread
Los Angeles Kings at Vancouver Canucks, Dec 14, 2009 7:00 PM PST
Yeah, off with their heads! I don't care if they are leading the West right now. Kill em' Canucks! I want Anze's head on a platter!

First they start easing Welly out. Then we get SOB being shopped, followed by the return of Rome. Welly + SOB are still the fastest way to clear cap space for Demitra coming back. Coupla weeks now? More? Less?
$2.107m cap space today
$1.592m for SOB
$1.200m for Welly
—————————————————-
$4.793m total cap space
-$0.550m for Rome
—————————————————-
4.243 cap space cleared
-4.000 for Demitra
—————————————————-
0.243 cap space remaining
We’d also have to let one other player go to make room for Grabs when Demitra comes back (even if their returns happen in the opposite order), but because the numbers are so precise, it could be anyone, even our guys making the NHL minimum. Look:
0.243 cap space remaining
-0.787m for Grabner
—————————————————-
-0.546 over the cap
0.550 NHL minimum
—————————————————-
+.006 cap space
Man, those number are tight. I gotta presume Gillis had ‘em calc’d out a long time ago cuz it’s too close to be a coincidence.
The opposite of serious is not funny; the opposite of serious is unserious.
SO MUSE IS COMING TO VANCOUVER, w00t
But my day would be even better if we win.

Such a tease, eh?

ah
Mitch is good at what he does, I just laugh when he winds up like Al Macinnis and the result looks more like something from Al Yankovic
Weakest shot competition? I think B Mo would win it.

My friend Steve just texted me that he loves the Glass Johnson combo. Glass Johnson. It made me laugh. Then I made fun of him for being gay. Immature? Yes. Funny? Yes.

Alright, that’s assist number 1 on the night for Hank. He must get at least one more to keep the streak alive.

Shouldn’t a hot chick be telling us how good that period was?
by Section 312 on Dec 14, 2009 7:47 PM PST reply actions
Still probably trying to decide what it was. Was going to be strong but we finished weak. Canucks have to start playing the full 20 minutes.
why the hell would I say how the period was???
by Sean Zandberg on Dec 14, 2009 7:53 PM PST up reply actions
Doesn’t someone usually put up a picture of a hot chick who rated the period?

They are doing something right in Sweden. I need to move there. Look at those women. The Sedin’s, Ohlund, Holmstrom, Zetterberg, etc etc etc. I would be like the best looking guy there.

it’s not hard to be better looking than a Sedin is it? They look like fucking aliens!

May I suggest...
…The Daily Show sent Wyatt Cenak to Sweden to examine why universal health care makes all the women beautiful and turns the men into Travelocity Gnomes…
Don Van Massinhoven…he has had it for a loooonnnggg time

The PP looks good. Unlucky not to score there.

Think anyone else could have done what he did in L of A?
by Section 312 on Dec 14, 2009 9:25 PM PST up reply actions
Well I am biased cause I still think it is the single greatest performance in the history of movie making. I have seen it 15 times. Plus he was nominated for like 8 Best Actor awards. He is the Streep of Male actors.
by Section 312 on Dec 14, 2009 9:28 PM PST up reply actions
Streep
bores me to tears.
O’Toole is good, but not nearly the versatile talent Lews, Pitt or Norton are.
It doesn’t really stand the test of time but O’Toole is pretty evil in it. Not Lewis in Gangs evil but not many people have been that evil.
by Section 312 on Dec 14, 2009 9:35 PM PST up reply actions
And
the subtlety of his evil in There Will be Blood, and his callousness in Unbearable Lightness of Being, In the Name of the Father, etc, etc
Totally agree about Day Lewis being awesome.
Clooney is a MOVIE STAR though….and seems to do well in the big movies like the Oceans franchise, and still be great in movies like Syriana, Three Kings and the…can’t remember the total title…Good Night…something…
He brings in the big bucks on the studio movies, but I like him more in the ones that are smaller, like the new one Up In the Air…
Peace

As much as I don’t think Hordichuk should play I almost miss having him there over Wellwood. Wellwood has looked awful all game. SOB has been playing really well in my opinion though which is nice to see.
Very smart assist he got there! Good timing on the comment.

I am starting to think I might have been wrong about him.

So… Keslord 1st Star? Mayray 2nd? Luuu 3rd?
by Beantown Canuck on Dec 14, 2009 9:23 PM PST reply actions
Nope…. they pushed Mayray to 3rd, took Luuuuu out, and pushed Doughty in 2. I like my choices better.

Playing down...
…to their opponent’s level. I really really want them to keep the play going, especially against weak teams. The last road trip was a classic example.
Thank you, thank you...
this win is sweet. No letdowns, to meltdowns, I am simply speechless.

Playing down... …to their opponent’s level
I fully agree. They’ve done it with such frequency over such a long period of time that it’s become part of their collective personality.
They were talking about that on the broadcast too Attila. If the proposed system of giving 3 points for a win, 2 for an OT or shoot out win, and 1 point for an OT loss were in place, they would be in 7th instead of 10th.
Whatever…keep playing this way and they will climb the table soon enough!

Yes, I was listening to Dan.
The 3 points for an outright win seems like a much better reward system, I can’t see how anyone could be against it. It would stimulate teams to hang on to their leads much harder, so that they don’t lose a point if the game goes to OT. So, it would add intensity to the game. I hope they implement it soon.

WOOOH!!
something went right for me today!!! the canucks win!!!!
on the downside, my exam was horrible. i now officially hate calculus, and i’m starting to wonder why the fuck i am majoring in math…..
"If Chuck Norris was up against 7 Rangers, he'd call Ryan Kesler."
GO CANUCKS GO!
I hated calculus, though I never did it beyond our advanced grade 12 class. What year are you in? I have a close friend who majored in Physics and Math and might be able to offer some help with specific concepts if they’re giving you trouble.
...loving life for Christ's glory...
There seems to be a lot of math wonks on here. Will I get booted if I confess to failing Algebra 12?
Please allow me to adjust my pants, so that I may dance the good time dance, and lead the onlookers and innocent bystanders into a trance.
it’s okay. i like telling people what i’m majoring in and what courses i’m taking next term just to watch them cringe :P
(btw, in january i’m starting differential equations, linear algebra part 2, discrete math and combinatorics part 2, mathematics of finance, and statistics part 2)
