Canucks/Stars Recap

Every Dallas player had a shot, lead by Morrow who had 8 shots on his own. Here's the shot report.

The story of the night was Cory Schneider, our rookie phenom goalie who faced an inhuman 47 shots. No need to review the game any further than that.

Red is the man. Bow to him.

Cory Schneider

He sure looked like Louie on a good night.

Yep…Red good.

Team tired…

That is all

The earliest use of the word with the spelling we recognize today is found in "L'Acadie: or Seven Years' Exploration in British America" by James Edward Alexander, published in 1849:

We also met a lusty fellow in a forest road with a keg of whisky slung round him who called to us 'Come boys and have some grog, I'm what you call a canuck"

If we were gonna lose – and the team was so tired it appeared inevitable – then at least we got one good thing out of it: Red. Our own confidence in him has to be higher now, and his trade value will rise just a little. More games like that and it will rise a lot. So we got something out of the loss.

Mike, you made that? Kick ass! Red rules. I still can’t get over that point blank save on Ribeiro. That was sick stuff. That performance was exactly what he looked like in the AHL playoffs last year. Amazing.
Was it just me, or were Kesler and Pettinger the only guys who looked decent out there?
AV looks like a damned genius for starting him now. Rayzor would not have stopped all those shots. Schneider’s value did go up a bit, as we pointed out pregame. It’s a start.

Incredible job by Scneider last night. I’m very happy for him.

Canucks as a whole….meh. I think I wasn’t alone leaning towards a loss last night. But just listening to how well Red played, made it very bearable.

At least they’ll have a lot of time to rest for the next game. Hopefully, they’ll start playing hockey for 60 minutes instead of the 15 last night.

Even the 15 only started after Dallas had a 2 goal lead and were sitting on it; almost cost them the game, too. Guess the Canucks aren’t the only team to “shell out” when they get a lead.

Man u could truly see how he’s going to be an elite goalie soon in that game. Nooooo way rayzor could have pulled off that performance, he just doesn’t have that mystical ‘it’ that schneider and luongo and other super elites have. Nothing against Raycroft, but he’s an ‘NHL goalie’. The other two are ‘super-star NHL goalies’

by GAHHHHH! on Nov 8, 2009 10:11 AM PST reply actions

Isn’t Schneider’s positioning great? It’s way more fluent that Raycroft’s, and definitely less awkward.

by Sean Zandberg on Nov 8, 2009 11:51 AM PST up reply actions

Positioning is great. Never seems to miss an angle on lateral movements.

The thing I notice about him most is how compact he is. Moreso than almost any goalie. Really good at closing the holes, which is great for shutting down tip ins and deflections.

Quick little bugger too.

He’s 6’ 2" and 195, Kes. I wouldn’t call him little.

I've seen enough to know that I've seen too much.

Raycroft a NHL goalie???

No.
