Curious About Those Injuries?
Vancouver leads the league with 109 man games lost to injury. If the pace continues, they're projected to finish up with 447.
Yes, both totals lead the league. Hooray!

it’s not only the amount of injuries, it’s to top players: luongo, daniel, salo, demitra (yeah, i know demo gets a hard ride, but he is a top forward). it’s esp frustrating with lui, since he also takes a couple of games to get going again. then there’s the category of emerging players who have been injured, like hansen, grabner, and rypien.
it’s probably cost the team a couple of points in the standings, i’m guessing.

Yeah I agree. He does contribute well when he’s playing.

He does contribute. Just not as much as he gets compensated. That’s why he gets such a hard ride.
FTR I think it’s about time we stopped talking about the injuries. You don’t get points for having the most injuries so the Nucks still have to win. It is what it is. I would rather focus on the guys who are in the lineup but haven’t been carrying their weight. Yes Wellwood that was a crack about your size.

It’d be easier to stop talking about them if they weren’t so abundant so early on.

Agreed 100%. We have been hit hard but better now than say in the middle of the playoffs. Remember Buffalo that one year? They were hit so hard with injuries to their D they asked Mike Ramsey to come out of retirement.
I guess having played sports I had the whole no excuses thing jammed into my head a lot and I don’t think injuries are an excuse. You put out the best team you can and you have to find ways to win. It all usually evens out over time.

I hear ya. But when your AHL call ups start getting injured, or you have Bieksa as a first line LW, they’re a factor whether we like it or not. Unless AV is just a fantastic, thinking outside of the box type coach. Which I wouldn’t agree with.

Oh yeah I mean it is a factor but at some point it is just a lot of injuries and nothing more. You know? Look at the Oilers right now?

Canucks have been “in the box” too much already this year; please not the coach, too!
Bit of a tangent … I still wonder what’s up with Shirok, btw … when you’re playing Bieksa as a first-line fw while Shirok waits in Winnipeg … either he’s really considered to have insufficient potential … or he’s become a longer-term project being given more ice-time in order to adapt his game.
Hey, who was it on this board who said earlier this year that he got to see the Moose a lot? Any reports since then?
The opposite of serious is not funny; the opposite of serious is unserious.

At the time of Bieksa playing on the wing, the Moose were mired in a losing slump and Shirok had gone cold.
