Shirokov Returns To The Moose; Shirokov Kicks Ass
Shirokov, who was returned by the Vancouver Canucks yesterday, didn't need long to get himself back on track. After going pointless in three games since his last NHL recall, the Russian rookie was perfectly positioned during a Moose power play during the first period and rifled home a rebound for his fifth goal of the AHL season.
-From the Moose website.
Moose win 2-1 over the W-S Penguins last night.
That's 5 goals and 11 points in 11 games for Sergei Shirokov at the AHL level.

How is he so good in the AHL yet pointless in the NHL?
Is he like a contemporary Alexander Daigle or something?
Shirok like Daigle? Hey man you’re freaking me out. :)
I hope that’s not the case. Shirokov has a good sense of determination. I think he’ll be alright.

They just want him to get totally comfortable in the NA style game…AV said that both times he sent him down.
He made the team out of camp…That happened for a reason too…he’ll be fine.
The earliest use of the word with the spelling we recognize today is found in "L'Acadie: or Seven Years' Exploration in British America" by James Edward Alexander, published in 1849:
We also met a lusty fellow in a forest road with a keg of whisky slung round him who called to us 'Come boys and have some grog, I'm what you call a canuck"
