Love it Sean…puts in there in B+W?

The Bernier one looks serious though!? Funny how he went from preseason darling to same old same old pretty quick.

He does have 3 dirty goals. I’m willing to give him a little more rope, as long as he doesn’t hang himself with it.

I think Bernie is great, Continue to believe he has great up side and love the way pressures the puck and works his ass off.

by Kelownakid on Oct 30, 2009 6:20 PM PDT up reply actions

I like Bernier, but he just seems to lack “hockey sense” when he has the puck. I’m hoping he develops that with time.

by cyxj on Oct 30, 2009 6:30 PM PDT up reply actions

Kelowna…I love him too…just can’t believe how quick it changes in this town.

He sure does work his ass off…and do some good things.

He just needs to bury one “pretty goal” to get it going I think. He is only…what…24?

Cheap shot by Ladd

Unlike Willie’s hit on Toews—I can’t believe he’s still out of action—Ladd’s hit on the Montreal player tonight was a blatant cheap shot. All elbow. He’ll be suspended for at least 5 games, methinks.

by east_van_joe on Oct 30, 2009 6:22 PM PDT reply actions

Still talking about Willies hit. It was a beauty but even Joel Quenville stated that it was clean so i do not get the ongoing controversy?

Hopefully Toews is ok but you try to fly through center ice with your head down and hmmm …… that’s hockey.

by Kelownakid on Oct 30, 2009 6:28 PM PDT up reply actions

Hopefully Toews is ok but you try to fly through center ice with your head down…

I gotta disagree with that … a bit.

The hit was clean, but I don’t think you can say that it was Toews’ fault. He had his head up, looked left, then looked right for split sec in order to receive the pass. That’s when Mitchell came out of the 5th dimension – aka the penalty box – and nailed him. At the time that Toews looked left there was no Canuck who could possibly have gotten to him that quick.

So, to my mind, the mistake was not Toews’, it was Brouwer’s, cuz it was Brouwer – with a perfect line of site to both Toews and to the penalty box – who passed it to Toews in such a vulnerable position.

by casual on Oct 30, 2009 6:43 PM PDT up reply actions

Wow…missed that one…though it sounds like I’ll have an opportunity to watch the replay.

Was watching this instead…my personal fave was #5 of course, but thye are all good.

by vancitydan on Oct 30, 2009 6:24 PM PDT reply actions

Just to be clear, my point was that Willie’s hit was as clean as can be, and the reason I brought it up was because Toews, like Ladd, is a Black Hawk.

by east_van_joe on Oct 30, 2009 6:30 PM PDT reply actions

Even all the media in Chicago made the point of calling it a clean hit too. There were a few that griped it was “poor form” to hit him coming out of the box…but thats for another time.

Niemi didn’t help with no stick slap.

Like to see hit…must have been bad for you to say 5 games…

They lead the league in after whistle scrums though…

Here's the game plan

We got our 2 goals, now we sit back and let Andrew “1.01 GAA” Raycroft do his thing.

Missy can correct me if I get my stats/math wrong, but I believe that this GAA suggests that Rayzer allows one goal 99/100 games and 2 goals 1/100 games.

by missy on Oct 30, 2009 7:26 PM PDT up reply actions

Thanks for the validation guys! I’m actually generalizing slightly, as GAA is calculated per 60 minutes. So I guess 1.01 GAA means that he will let in 101 goals for every 100 60-minute games played. Ehh, not bad!

by missy on Oct 30, 2009 9:00 PM PDT up reply actions

Canada’s pretty big I hear. I think it’s the longest journey in a single country.

And it really does look like a joint when it’s aflame.

i know, a few of us noticed how the torch looked like a joint

I think it is pretty obvious though, for whatever reason, the refs hate Alex Burrows. NOt sure what he said to one of them sometime, but I wish they’d get over it. He got pitchforked there. Any other Canuck, I am guessing that is a call.

Hmmm…maybe this will be like that Hallowe’en game last year…

We won that, right?

The refs think he’s a diver.

by marcness52 on Oct 30, 2009 8:40 PM PDT up reply actions

Burr and Kes probably found out the name of the refs’ wives and worked this information into some heckles.

Must be it…like against the Flames, getting high sticked..maybe they didn’t like him showing him his chipped tooth in his hand.

Still…doesn’t seem…“sporting”…whot?

GO CANUCKS GO!

by missy on Oct 30, 2009 8:55 PM PDT reply actions

It was only a matter of time.

by marcness52 on Oct 30, 2009 8:56 PM PDT up reply actions

To warm his up with game action in preparation for next game?

by cyxj on Oct 30, 2009 8:56 PM PDT up reply actions

At this point maybe Schneider could steal the job for next game if he stones the Ducks this period.

by Sean Zandberg on Oct 30, 2009 8:58 PM PDT up reply actions

What a change of events from 24 hours ago…I’m sober and the Canucks are drunk

by Sean Zandberg on Oct 30, 2009 8:56 PM PDT reply actions

THIS JUST IN

It is in fact MATHIEU Schneider in net, not Cory. He has become the oldest player to play forward, defense and goaltender in one game.

BWHAHA!

Damn…Ducks score again

by Sean Zandberg on Oct 30, 2009 9:02 PM PDT up reply actions

A little Metallica playing there….excellent choice for PP music

by Sean Zandberg on Oct 30, 2009 9:02 PM PDT reply actions

Getzlaf is too good.

by cyxj on Oct 30, 2009 9:03 PM PDT reply actions

Special Teams are atrocious tonight.

by marcness52 on Oct 30, 2009 9:03 PM PDT reply actions

I’m getting an assload of points in my pools with all these Ducks goals

by Sean Zandberg on Oct 30, 2009 9:03 PM PDT reply actions

I have Getzlaf and Ryan in the NM pool :)

by cyxj on Oct 30, 2009 9:05 PM PDT up reply actions

Nice!
Mine are in Officepools. Need the points

by Sean Zandberg on Oct 30, 2009 9:06 PM PDT up reply actions

He shoots…WIDE. Common theme tonight

by Sean Zandberg on Oct 30, 2009 9:04 PM PDT reply actions

Not that predictions matter all that much, but I did say the Ducks would win 6-3. Had a bad feeling….

by Sean Zandberg on Oct 30, 2009 9:07 PM PDT reply actions

Alright, now we can repeat last year’s score.

by cyxj on Oct 30, 2009 9:07 PM PDT reply actions

With 8 defensemen in the lineup, you’d think they’d have a bit more D.

by marcness52 on Oct 30, 2009 9:09 PM PDT reply actions

So is this game an example of why we can’t just trade chances with a competent team while we’re missing so many players?

by cyxj on Oct 30, 2009 9:23 PM PDT reply actions

I dunno. It was just sloppy all around. Team played like they just wanna go home.

by Sean Zandberg on Oct 30, 2009 9:24 PM PDT up reply actions

They had a chance to lock it down after the 2-0 lead. But that would been for like 55 minutes, lol

by cyxj on Oct 30, 2009 9:26 PM PDT up reply actions

yeah…had they capitalized on more PP chances they could have buried them early

by Sean Zandberg on Oct 30, 2009 9:26 PM PDT up reply actions

Had the feeling 2-0 wasn’t good enough

by Sean Zandberg on Oct 30, 2009 9:27 PM PDT up reply actions

6 unanswered goals is absolutely ridiculous.

by thelastjohnny on Oct 30, 2009 9:28 PM PDT up reply actions

yeah it’s a fail from hell indeed

by Sean Zandberg on Oct 30, 2009 9:29 PM PDT up reply actions

Nice shift there by Kesler and his amtes though…still trying!

LOL

mercifully….this one’s over

by Sean Zandberg on Oct 30, 2009 9:33 PM PDT reply actions

Hopefully Luongo is ready to go on Sunday…

by marcness52 on Oct 30, 2009 9:33 PM PDT reply actions

I don’t mind a split on this road trip, all things considering.

by cyxj on Oct 30, 2009 9:34 PM PDT reply actions

Splitting back-to-backs without Luongo, there’s a bright side.

by thelastjohnny on Oct 30, 2009 9:34 PM PDT up reply actions

wow, i was hoping to be able to see something of the game when i got back home like 10 mins ago, but from what i’ve seen, i don’t even want to see the highlights

by kiyotok on Oct 30, 2009 9:34 PM PDT reply actions

On the plus side, I don’t think anyone got injured tonight.

by marcness52 on Oct 30, 2009 9:35 PM PDT reply actions

The Avs are losing 2-0 in the 3rd right now. So we didn’t lose ground on them.

by cyxj on Oct 30, 2009 9:36 PM PDT reply actions

Brutal game

On the upside, I had time to write a new post during the 2nd and 3rd. Coming up momentarily.

by nucksandpucks on Oct 30, 2009 9:39 PM PDT reply actions

AV

blames this loss on the PP???

Uh 7 goals against? Hello?

Defense was brutal, but if you’re blaming the PP, maybe giving Tanner Glass more PP time than Salo, and constantly putting a forward on the blueline despite being down so many forwards and having a pile of good shooting dmen would be your first clue.

Not to mention Rome leading all “forwards” in icetime???

Anybody still need convincing that AV has the first foggy notion when it comes to offense?

by yoata on Oct 31, 2009 11:52 AM PDT reply actions

To be fair the PP was pretty awful. They were doing nothing and that short handed goal was the turning point. Special teams in general was bad. The PK couldn’t kill either penalty.
