Vigneault said Wednesday that checking centre Ryan Johnson, who crashed frighteningly into the boards against the Red Wings, was discharged from hospital late Tuesday night and wanted to practise with teammates on Wednesday.
Johnson hit his head after losing an edge during a high-speed puck chase and is expected to be out a minimum of one week in accordance with the National Hockey League protocol on concussions.

That's not a good sign
The guy just hit his head and wanted to practice the next day. Check his brain :)
haha. He’s got more balls than brains I think. He’s the man.
fuck corsi

Wait, Sean. Better make sure his wife is okay with it, just like she passed judgment on the city of Vancouver.
What kind of captain is that pussy whipped?
Kesler for captain. Now.
While goaltending is important, you don’t build a winner around the goalie. Period.
I bet the Canucks do just fine without the priss.

Does Luongo really just need a mental break? I say that not in a mean way, but, well, is he a little burnt out right now? I mean, he played two games w/the injury before the last one, incl’g a shutout, and then suddenly after a bad period he needs time off.
OK, I understand the feeling, and maybe he felt he was just “on the edge” in a bad way all the way thru that stretch, but I also wonder if there might not be some mental fatigue for a guy who sets his own bar awfully high. The timeframes being bandied about don’t really accord with this type of injury, do they?
Maybe the injury has been blown out of proportion a little?

Maybe. I guess there’s breaks and then there’s breaks. If it’s a bad break, no way Luongo’s back in a week, but if it’s a hairline (and a light one at that) then … it’s possible? Tough to figure all this out these days when the teams hide so much injury detail. I understand why they do it and I’d do the same thing myself, but it makes it tricky to figure out where we’re heading and why.
It would be worse if he wasn’t a goalie as well. Minimal contact for him…he can play with a bit of pain. Not a big deal, where if a d-man has it, takes a hit, bango, back on the healing shelf.

Toughest guy in the league. Wanted to go to praccy after that fall. Dude is nails. Is there a chance he isn’t human? I think his bones might be coated with adamantium. He has got a brass set.
Wasn’t he out last year with a broken hand? He got that adamantium on resale.

So Rypien goes in Johnson’s place tomorrow right? I don’t see any more X’s here…though I see Schneider’s now. I guess if Rypien is still tender, Debiens gets the nod. I wouldn’t mind Bliznak getting a look once we get through the next injury (scheduled for right after the LA game).

I think Wellwood is gonna be out an extra month now; got his hand stuck reaching into a candy-bar machine and they can’t get him out.
More seriously, is Tanner Glass gonna be Hordi’s replacement? I mean, Glass is steady and he likes to hit and he can fight, but he doesn’t take a lot of bad penalties. Isn’t that almost the definition of a 4th liner? Hordi is under pressure now.
Once everyone returns, and presuming that after all these injuries we have the cap space, we could ice a pretty complete set of lines:
Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Raymon-Kesler-Grabner
Samuelsson-Demitra-Hansen
Shirok-Wellwood-Bernier
[Glass-Hordi-Rypien-Johnson… I miss anyone?]
Shuffle as you like, or substitute Johnson, Rypien etc per your faves, but the pt is that we’ll have good depth when they’re all healthy. The key will be the coaching, I think. We got outcoached last nite where our guys were playing not to lose in the 3rd period whereas Detroit was playing to win. Gotta change that.
I agree to a point. We have played like the Chicago Bears with a lead in the 1st quarter – run, run, run, punt…repeat (mix a 2yrd screen pass to mix it up)…and no that don’t work in that sport either.
Our depth when healthy could be great but how the players react now can’t be pushed onto the coaching. Every player should now have an inner voice throughout the game that says “hey, I should backcheck now cuz Lou isn’t back there” – actions we did well last year that have been missing so far. We will play fine, not great but do just fine. Perhaps I look for the silver lining but this isn’t the worst thing. I’ll take 7-8 regulars down in Oct-Nov versus 1 or 2 key guys down later….
I call BS on the Bears. I’ve got Matt Forte in my fantasy league, and he hasn’t run for shit this season.
I've seen enough to know that I've seen too much.
You got Forte too? I fell your pain. LONG season.

Haha, fair enough. The guy I was playing sat DeSean Jackson but still crushed me. And I have LJ too…going right into the toilet bowl this year.

Couldn’t find the clip cas’ but you had me thinking of when the EMS guys told him, with his hands in the candy machines..
“ummmm Homer, are you just holding on to the candy?”
Totally agree about the Glass Man…tuned up the old warrior May pretty good last night. I like what he brings too. I thought if Glass gets injured we could see PC Labrie…that guy looked huge and skates like Lucic on the ice.
I disagree about last night about being outcoached. Maybe being outtalented a bit. Datsyuk came alive after a slow start to the season.
Canucks were still trying to forecheck and play their game, just got beat.
In a game that started 2-1 in the 3rd, and ended 5-4 against, I don’t think we can say they were trying to cover a lead.
Least I hope not!

LOL, I had that exact thought of that Simpsons scene when casual mentioned it.
